Environmental protection has long been seen as an added cost and burden to economic development. To this end, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office (FECO) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment partnered with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Inspired by the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) theory, both parties jointly developed the Global Environment Facility (GEF) “POPs and Toxic Chemicals Management Based on Regional Eco-effectiveness" Project. This Project aims to enhance the lifecycle management of toxic and hazardous chemicals, such as persistent organic pollutants (POPs). They are taking the lead in exploring a circular economy development model based on eco-effectiveness.
