[Abstract] By conducting geological and engineering evaluation on CO2 injection into deep coalbed at XXX North Block of Southern XXX Basin, we think that it’s feasible to inject CO2 into deep coalbed at XXX North Block for coalbed methane production; with micro-pilot tests on Well SX-001, we are able to conclude how gas production, water production, gas composition and well bottom pressure change before and after CO2 injection into Well SX-001. Field tests show that gas production of Well SX-001 after CO2 injection is 2.45 times of before; when the pressure is less than fracture pressure of coals, injecting 20 tons of CO2 per day is reasonable and successful, and the pressure rises slowly; coals start to expand after CO2 injection causing penetration rate drops at local coalbed, which is then back to normal after outflow and extraction for a certain amount of time; within the range of influence by injecting CO2 into target coalbed, total displacement efficiency of hydrocarbon gases is up to 14.18 cm3/g. Such results prove that by injecting CO2 at XXX North Block to produce coalbed methane, CO2 burial will be realized, which improves the recovery ratio of coalbed methane wells.
